What funeral assistance is available for veterans in Australia?

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs may help with funeral costs for an eligible veteran or dependant. Eligibility, benefit limits and the application process depend on the relevant scheme and circumstances. Contact DVA to check what assistance applies and what documents are needed. Where approved, payment may be made directly to the funeral director; assistance does not necessarily cover the full funeral cost.

That would be the Department of Veterans Affairs, DVA for short. The family can often contact them online. Filling out an online form, and they will be able to be in contact with them and assist further. And then they can just pay for funeral arrangements directly to the funeral director.
