What types of power of attorney are available in Victoria, and which one do you need?
Victoria has two main types of power of attorney. A general non-enduring power of attorney is for temporary financial decisions and stops if you lose decision-making capacity. An enduring power of attorney can continue after capacity is lost and can authorise financial matters, personal matters, or both. You choose what authority to give and when it starts. Because an enduring power of attorney can only be made while you have decision-making capacity, it is important to arrange it before it is needed.
