Diverse Voices are a LGBTIQA+SB community‑led not-for-profit organisation working alongside LGBTIQA+SB people in Meanjin, Magandjin/Brisbane and surrounding regions in Queensland. Since our establishment in 1984, originally known as the Homosexual Community Welfare Service, and later The Gay and Lesbian Welfare Service, Diverse Voices have provided telephone and in-person peer support, community connection, education, mental health and suicide prevention and intervention training. 

Diverse Voices has been the Queensland QLife partner for over a decade, providing
confidential phone and web-based peer support to LGBTIQA+SB people nationally, every day of the year. 

In 2024 we expanded to provide domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) counselling and case management support for LGBTIQA+SB victim-survivors and behaviour change intervention support for LGBTIQA+SB persons using violence. Our DFSV framework is grounded in walking alongside victim‑survivors to promote safety, wellbeing and healing.

In 2025, we established a face-to-face counselling service for LGBTIQA+SB people which
builds on the options available through peer support, to provide counselling services with trained and experienced LGBTIQA+SB identified counsellors. This was in response to expressed community needs. We also commencing providing Silver Rainbow in Queensland, providing training and support to aged care providers in delivering inclusive, safe and affirming care for LGBTIQA+SB older people. 

Diverse Voices is a founding member of the Queensland LGBTIQA+ Alliance.
